Will Generative AI disrupt entire industries and deliver over $4.4 trn to the global economy?

Time will tell.

But, if you look at the progress of Generative AI in the past 6 months to 2 years and imagine what it will be able to do in 2 years time - then you have got to be excited.

You can ask ChatGPT anything. So, if you have an idea, run it through its prompt engine, you may just be wonderfully surprised with the answer. The more specific you can be in your prompting of course, the better.

Example Prompt:

'A customer has called to say they are unhappy with our refund policy. They have posted a negative comment online. Draft a friendly response that addresses their concerns and offers a resolution to their problem so we can keep them as customers. This is the complaint they post ['ADD TEXT HERE'], and here is our refund policy ['ADD REFUND POLICY TEXT HERE'].

Not only can call centre service staff reduce response times using this prompt - the above will be entirely automated at some near point in time - you can adopt a consistent company persona to reply, ensuring your staff deliver excellent service every time.

And remember that this is not the only example of where Generative AI can support contact centres. A contact centre is a business area where you need to apply Generative AI to redesign roles urgently. If you don't, others will offer digital business service operations centres faster and better than you.

That means outsourcing service providers, in particular, MUST re-architecture their business models quickly.

For example, imagine I had 100-degree-educated staff working in an outsourced business service operations centre. In the near future, I may need 40%-57% less staff after I rearchitect my business, technology and resourcing model using Generative AI and Intelligent Automation.

Working this through at the country level - India PLC has 5.2 million software developers. Currently, AWS CodeWhisperer claims to be able to make software developers 57% more efficient already.

That means India PLC may only need under 3m software developers, as 3m can technically complete the work of 5.2m.

However, not only does this make the remaining software developers more efficient - when code security, standards, and ethics are built in by default - coders will be able to produce code to far higher standards than before.

Stepping forward, this means that instead of trying to train 3m developers on new code standards, these can be coded into a #GenAI model once only. Everyone can be upskilled simultaneously and instantly. And now, everyone can code to higher standards immediately.

But what happens to the other 2m+ coders?

Those are the questions individuals, businesses and governments need to ask.
